Whilst on furlough in 2003, their son, Kade, was born. For the first 5 years they worked on learning the language and culture of the people, and established a medical clinic to serve the pressing needs of the locals. In 2004 they began teaching literacy in the Kol language and presented the Gospel first in 2005. There are now 3 locations where regular church services are held using the lessons Garry has developed. Garry continues to write and teach Bible lessons and is working on a draft of the New Testament in the Kol language as well. The local men and women now have the responsibility of the daily medical and literacy programs with the McCays providing materials and other support when needed. Hailing from Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Tobias Keene brings a bit of unabashed Southern hospitality to all his patients. He moved to Washington, D.C. over thirty years ago as a freshman at Ivy College. Right after graduation, he attended World University’s School of Dentistry. Before opening Keene Dental in 1994, he worked for free clinics and some of the finest practices in the District. He is part of the 123 Dental Association and stays up-to-date on the latest dental discoveries.
